
It was Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, the son of Emperor Jahangir who
dearly loved his wife Mumtaz Mahal built Taj
Mahal Agra in her memory. Mumtaz Mahal was a Muslim Persian princess and
Arjumand Banu Begum was her name before marriage. After the demise of his
dearest wife he began the construction of Taj Mahal as a tribute to his
everlasting love. He selected 22,000 craftsman’s or workers which included
Masons, in layers, carvers, stone cutters, calligraphers, painters, arch
developers from Central Asia and Iran and 1,000 elephants to get the structure
completed.
