But Chrissy swimwear manufacturer China Teigen took it to another level on Thursday as she asked her Twitter followers to help her out with a baking dilemma, requesting some overripe bananas in exchange for her husband's underwear.

'if u have 6 BROWN bananas in the LA area, I will send wholesale swimwear my assistant to your home with a signed cookbook, John's underwear and a Becca palette,' the 31-year-old supermodel propositioned her fans.

The Cravings: Recipes for All the Food You Want to Eat author needed brown - or over ripe - bananas for a bread recipe.

To coerce those that may have thought Chrissy was pulling a prank, she followed up her request with another tweet.

'SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY. please send me a photo of u holding the bananas, giving the peace sign,' was posted one minute after the original tweet.

The response was overwhelming as she had a variety of responses within 5 minutes as her fans sprang into action, tweeting photos of themselves holding their overripe bananas just as she'd asked.

Chrissy realized there were no safety guidelines to bartering for produce on social media so she sent out another text with instructions.

'just for safety, my assistant asks that u taste a small piece of the banana in front of her before making the trade.' the Lip Sync Battle host tweeted as a precaution.

The mother of one-year-old Luna had her request filled in just under 10 minutes as she tweeted: 'banana submissions are now closed. thank you guys so much I will send the runner ups some banana bread once done'.

Chrissy's assistant - aka her mom - made the trek to pick up the priceless fruit as she took pictures of the exchange and posted them on Chrissy's Twitter.

One of the banana donors tweeted a picture of the rewards and asked if she should frame the Calvin Klein underwear.

Perhaps Chrissy has started a new trend where asking to borrow a cup of sugar from a neighbor takes on a new modern social media slant.
